History: is honestly just a lot of TL;DR.

Tifa was Cloud’s next-door neighbor and best friend growing up. He saved her from dying but she went into a coma. When they were 14, he promised to rescue her from anything that was going to hurt her because he was going to become a strong SOLDIER. She led a group of SOLDIERs including Sephiroth, Cloud and Zack up to the Nibelheim reactor a year later, not knowing Cloud was with them. Sephiroth went crazy and destroyed the town. Infuriated, Tifa went after him. She was owned by Sephiroth and rendered unconscious while Cloud went and saved her –just as promised. Tifa was taken to Midgar for medical attention and once she was healed, set up 7th Heaven. She met Barret there and they formed the anti-ShinRa terrorist group, AVALANCHE. Shortly thereafter, the events of the game took place.

The game. Okay, basically, AVALANCHE hired Cloud, who thought he was Zack. They successfully blow up a reactor, but then ShinRa drops the Sector 7 plate on the slums, destroying Tifa's bar (AVALANCHE's base) and blames it on AVALANCHE. So, then, they haxx0rz into ShinRa company, and find out JENOVA isn't in her cage, and Sephiroth killed the president, and they fight Rufus, the new president, and he is a total dick. So then they run off to Kalm and Cloud tells his Sephiroth story, and Tifa thinks she's crazy for remembering it differently, and doesn't say anything in order to protect him. Because she is stupid. So they go to Nibelheim, obviously, this is the best choice. But, it's all rebuilt, but the people living there are paid actors. No, really, ShinRa is paying people to pretend it never happened, and they tell Cloud and Tifa they never lived there.

So, then they go to the Northern Crater, tracking down Sephiroth. And he is all "AHA CLOUD THIS IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED" and Tifa was like "baww no don't tell him" but Cloud broke anyway and was like sup Seph, have some black materia. The party escapes on a ShinRa Airship, Highwind, and Barret and Tifa remain in ShinRa custody to be executed so that ShinRa Company can show that it's figurative dick size is the biggest in all of Gaia. They get put in a gas chamber, and Barret gets rescued, but Tifa has to break herself out of her restraints, and Sapphire Weapon just happens to blow a hole in the wall for her to get out.

So, then they find Cloud tripped up on Mako in Mideel, and he's overdosed. So, Tifa decides to stay with him, and they wind up falling into the Lifestream, which for some reason gives Tifa an insight into Cloud's subconscious, where she finds out the truth about Nibelheim and unlocks Cloud's memories. Then, they go grab the party and head back down into the Lifestream to fight Sephiroth. Cloud tells everyone to gtfo, but Tifa stays to help him get to safety, except Cloud saves her ass on his way out, too.

After that, they decide to live happily ever after at the new Seventh Heaven in Edge, where they are taking care of Marlene because Barret is off hunting for oil fields, and they adopt an orphan kid named Denzel who has geostigma, and Cloud starts wandering off out of guilt for Aerith's death and not answering his phone. And then the events of Advent Children happen, and Tifa finds out Cloud has geostigma, and fights Loz, and passes out in the church, then wakes up in a room with Rude, Reno and Cloud going "what is going on ahhhh gangrape" and finds out Marlene is kidnapped by a remnant of Sephiroth, a brother of Loz's. Tifa talks Cloud into going to save the kids, and then when Sin Bahamut is summoned, she saves Denzel and helps Cloud get up there and kick its ass. She then shows up randomly on the Highwind at the end of the film, cheering Cloud on. She helps them take him to Aerith's church after he gets shot, where he gets healed, and helps heal the other kids with the stigma.
Personality:
Tifa’s generally a very happy, joyful woman. She’s optimistic and likes to think that there’s always a brighter side to things, which strongly contrasts her environment. She’s really made as a foil for Cloud; an outgoing, happy girl who knows what she wants in life and puts her friends and their safety before anything else. But, she’s also a very strong person. Tragedy, such as her father’s death, only makes her that much stronger and more determined.

While she’s generally a very sensible and motherly figure, there are times when Tifa can act downright irrational. The reason for this is that she is intensely passionate, a strong supporter of “following her heart”, and anyone putting her friends into danger can easily draw out a more emotionally-centered side of her that is far from reasonable.

That said, she has a hate for ShinRa, SOLDIER, Sephiroth, and anything involved with them that encompasses all of her being. For a long time, she woke up in the morning hoping, praying that she might get revenge for what they did to her father, Zack and Cloud.

With the release of Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, some changes to her personality have been observed. With ShinRa’s apparent move to help support and rebuild the planet, her hatred for their institution has simmered. She still holds a grudge against the president, Rufus, but is seen holding polite conversation with his employees, and seems to have a friendly relationship with them to some extent.

Tifa is a very powerful woman. She can defend herself against the strongest summons and monsters with only her bare (or possibly gloved) hands. She can use materia: generally Thunder3, All, and Cure3. She’s acrobatic and quick, so it’s easy for her to maneuver around a foe. Of course, physical strength can only get you so far. She is not the strongest by far and can be bested by more powerful monsters and, of course, Sephiroth.

Emotionally speaking, she may as well be the Maginot Line. Unless someone has been particularly cruel, or one of her friends has been hurt or is in danger, most people will never see Tifa cry.

Tifa’s stubbornness is one of her main flaws. She doesn’t like other people to know when she is hurt or upset, and will brush wounds off even when they are quite serious because she doesn’t want to slow her teammates down. Her putting others before herself in this way tends to get her hurt, both emotionally and physically, whenever she gets very close to someone, or a friend is in danger. Also, despite her prowess in martial arts, she is only human, and can therefore be eliminated by any regular human means.
Other: I will unfortunately be restarting Tifa, from the end of DoC canon still, but nevertheless she won't remember DDD at all, despite my having been her only player.

First Person (entry type):
Boy, things sure are getting busy around here, aren't they? Midgar's finally starting to pull itself out of this slump from Meteor. Maybe I should consider turning the Seventh Heaven into an inn if it's going to get this much business.

What do you guys think? There's enough land in the back to expand for a few rooms. I think it could work! Marlene and Denzel would probably like all the company... and Cloud isn't really around enough to complain. Unfortunately. I hope he's all right...

Friends will still stay free, of course, don't worry you guys. But, what do you think? It wouldn't be too costly, considering how many people come through here that could use an extra room.

Speaking of Cloud - Reno, you're here, right? Have you heard from him at all? He... hasn't been returning my phone calls. I guess that's nothing new, though, right? Hmm...

Third Person:
The air conditioner was broken, the kids were running up and down the stairs shrieking, and the door kept making an awful creaking sound every time a customer entered Seventh Heaven. Tifa ran an irritated hand through her hair. It was hard to keep so many things in line, sometimes, even she had her melting point. She shifted her shoulders and the leather peeled away from her skin with a loud schlick. The brunette winced and grabbed a glass from below the bar, setting it in front of her new customer and filling it most of the way with southern comfort before reaching into the fridge for lime juice.

"Now this is service," she heard the redhead say as she leaned back up to pour fill the glass the rest of the way. When she saw him immediately grab the glass, she laughed.

"I like to give my regulars something to look forward to." She didn't expect a response. It was silly too. She pulled a rubberband from her wrist and snapped it around her hair in a loose ponytail, relieving some of the heat on her back and neck. "Your faith deserves some kind of reward, after all." She hummed quietly as she moved to take care of other customers. When she came back, Reno was finished and feeling conversational.

"Seen Cloud lately?" Tifa tensed up but forced a thin-lipped smile.

"He gets back late sometimes," she responded cryptically. Marlene ran straight through the panel made to keep people (and children) out from behind the bar and hugged Tifa around the legs.

"Tifa, Tifa, Denzel keeps pulling my hair, make him stop!" The woman laughed and smoothed the girl's hair, looking up to the staircase where Denzel stood with a pout.

"Denzel," she warned. "Cloud asked you to behave for me while he was gone, didn't he? You need to be nicer to Marlene, it's your job to take care of her while I work down here. You want to be a good guy like Cloud, right?" She received a swift, enthusiastic nod at this. "Then run upstairs and be nice." She patted Marlene's back to send her off after her fellow orphan, turning back to Reno with a smile. "So, have Elena and Tseng been doing well?" She was still mildly concerned about the two, after what Kadaj's gang had pulled.

"Eh, they've had worse. Well, Tseng has, but he's takin' good care of 'Lena," Tifa refilled his glass with whiskey and he paused to drink some. "Job's been a little slow lately, which I guess is good for them. Boring, if you ask me, though. Startin' to think maybe Rufio's softened up some, but don't tell him I said that." This drew a genuine smile from Tifa. While she may not like Rufus, even she could be happy that he was softening up. He, of all people, needed it. Rufus was the one who could really make a difference in how Gaia was returning to how it had once been. To hear that he was actually doing a good job of it . . . well, it gave Tifa hope for how things might turn out.

To think, so much had changed since she first set up the bar. It had held so many weary hearts and welcomed tired bodies. This place had seen just as many battles as they had. And, sure, it had moved to another location, but it still stood as a memory of how they would all gather there in the meetings of AVALANCHE, back before people saw them and thought of the meteor incident. Perhaps that nostalgia was why she had neglected to change the name.

That, and she knew that no matter what happened, Cloud always returned to Seventh Heaven. If it were somewhere else, she risked losing him for good. This was, they’d still have that connection. They’d still see this place as a gathering point where they could sit and have a drink and talk about anything. Their conversations wouldn’t touch the topic of terrorist actions against reactors or silver-haired men. No, they had to seek some sort of domestic relief. She flustered somewhat when she realized that she’d gone off into a sort of dreamlike state while still conversing with Reno, and snapped back to reality.

"Hey, change for a guy like that? It's not necessarily a bad thing." She took a rag from beneath the bar to clean up the condensation from where another customer had just left. "Besides, it gives the rest of us hope."

[how familiar is this? Tifa wakes up lying on one of the church pews, holding her head. There's no missing floorboards in this church, so it's definitely not Aerith's... she immediately looks concerned and jumps to her feet]

What's... what is this? What's going on? Marlene, Denzel, where are you? [looking around wildly, starting to check behind pews and finally notices the key in her hand]

Ah... Crux Ansata House? What is this... if this is some kind of joke, it's not a very good one.

How's My Driving?

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about how I play Tifa Lockhart, please voice them here. I love to have input, good or bad, I just ask that you manage to be civil either way, and try and be as specific as possible so I can improve my playing based on your comments. If you merely say "you suck at Tifa", I can't very well get better. Try pinpointing what I'm doing wrong or right and make as specific a reference as you can. Otherwise, I'll assume you just have a problem with me as a player and you're trying to take it out through my HMD post. Thank you! If you would prefer contacting me through AIM, you can reach me at live infamy.
